Training on Adolescent Girls and Sakhi/Saheli on Life Skill Education & ARSH Supported by: DSWO, Mayurbhanj, Odisha

Being an implementing agency under RGSEAG-SABLA programme in the district of Mayurbhanj, Odisha, Society for Participatory Action and Reflection (SPAR) provides training  to adolescent girls, sakhi/saheli, with the support of DSWO.  With the introduction of Life Skills Education in the institution the SPAR Adolescents have been empowered with enhanced knowledge on various public institutions and positive behaviour is reflected in their practices. With the objective to improve the nutritional and health status of adolescent girls in the age group of 11-18 years and empower them by providing education in life-skills, health and nutrition, the Government of India introduced the Rajiv Gandhi Scheme for Empowerment of Adolescent Girls – SABLA.  The Scheme also aims at equipping girls with information on family welfare, health and hygiene, existing public services, etc., and to draw out-of-school girls into the formal or non-formal education systems.

SPAR has been facilitating SABLA Programme in 7 blocks of Mayurbhanj district; namely, Jashipur, Karanjia, Rairangpur, Bisoi, Kusumi, Raruan and Sukruli.  The focus of the Scheme is primarily on out-of-school girls.

Activities :

  • Total No’s of Training on Life Skill Education & ARSH Conducted: 42 nos.
  • Total numbers of Exposure conducted: 42 nos.
  • Total No’s of AGs & Sakhi/Saheli attended the Training: 1680 nos.
  • No. of exposure visit to Public Service Institutions: 1050 nos.
  • Type of Public Service Institutions visited: Bank, Post Office, Railway Station, Hospital, Police Station, Biodiversity Interpretation Centre
  • Total No. of ICDS covered: 7 nos.
