SPAR is working in the Indo-Bangladesh and Indo-Bhutan border areas of North Bengal.  The Coochbehar, Alipurduar, Jalpaiguri and Dakshin Dinajpur districts are vulnerable in human trafficking.  These districts are also the transit points of human trafficking.  A large number of people are migrating from these districts to other states for ensuring their livelihood.  Most of the tea gardens are either sick or closed and as a result most of the tribal people are suffering a lot.  During the migration a huge number of women and adolescent girl children are trafficking.  On the other hand, in the name of good employment opportunity and marriage the girl children are being trafficked.

Previously, our human anti trafficking programme was supported by the other overseas donor partner.  After the phasing out of the programme SPAR could not keep stop the programme in the districts of Coochbehar, Alipurduar, Jalpaiguri and Dakshin Dinajpur districts because it is a burning issue.  So, we are implementing the programme from our own initiatives.  Different meetings, programmes and IEC materials are the part of our awareness building programme.  Now, more cases like; child marriage, child abuse, missing or trafficking are coming directly to the CHILDLINE.
