The CHILDLINE (1098) is a National 24-hour toll free phone emergency helpline service for children in need of care and protection. It is an initiative by Ministry of Women and Child Development (Government of India) and CHILDLINE India Foundation (CIF) in collaboration with several NGOs, State Government and Corporate Sector.
In the North Bengal Chapter of SPAR, Coochbehar and Dakshin Dinajpur districts are identified as the eminent pockets of cross-border trafficking (Women and Child), migration (safe & unsafe both), early marriage and highly susceptible to other forms of illegal/antisocial crimes. In this regard, SPAR is working in collaboration with Ministry of Women and Child Development, New Delhi through CHILDLINE India Foundation, Mumbai, in the name of CHILDLINE Dakshin Dinajpur and CHILDLINE Coochbehar as the collaborative organisation. A good number of child marriages, child abuse have been checked in these two districts.
