PREFACE

The traditional concept of education has changed considerably yielding newer scopes of developing human potentials and harnessing it to the overall development of the people. The Participatory Process of sharing life-oriented knowledge, skill and experience, enriching it everyday through a process of collective and singular struggle to protect and promote our civilisation and a continuous transfer of technical and modern information, knowledge, concepts and practices from macro to micro level and the vice versa has opened up a new area for development education.

With this consideration in view and also in the context of fast changing development scenario at the global, national and regional levels, we have planned our development education programme for the year 2004. We have endeavoured to infuse creativity, dynamism and imagination of the participants along with making them apprised of the stark reality around and popular requirements to be adequately addressed.

As done earlier, SPAR is going to organise different approach/process and issue based training programmes in the year 2004. It has been designed on the basis of previous experiences and demand emerging out of the context. We have included also a long-term training programme on “management of development organisation” in this year’s schedule. Our strategy of conducting training programme in different places of India and in Bangladesh and Nepal on request will remain the same. We shall be glad if our endeavour inspires the development actors to stride effectively in accompanying our people in their journey to empowerment.

  • Alleviation of poverty through promotion of self-reliant economy.
