Through self help groups the women folk in rural areas are coming forward to play their significant roles in the society and in the family. A micro-economic development has ushered in through the effective role of SHGs in the villages. Banks are coming forward on their own to advance loan to the SHG members as most of the credit disbursed among them has already been repaid in time. SHG group members have become more self reliant in many respects through their various income generation activities.
